Church News
To the Congregation at Bradfordville
The following is a note from Jack Cuatt, Leadership Council Chairman and Chad Clement, Deacon Chairman.
Congregation of Bradfordville First Baptist Church,
As you may have heard, Pastor Mark and Kim Wilbanks will be leaving our fellowship effective January 29, 2012, to move to their new ministry in Atlanta, Ga. We have had the distinct honor and privilege to share in their 10 years at BFBC. We think we can all say it has been a pleasure to serve alongside these two special people. Our plan is to have a reception in their honor after the service on January 29th. More will follow about the specific plans for this event but please plan on attending this special time for them.
Your Church Leadership Council (CLC) met yesterday and has appointed an interim steering committee (ISC) to oversee the interim (or transitional) period of the church. This committee is comprised of five leaders of your church to include the current chairs of finance, personnel, deacon chair, past deacon chair, and chair of the CLC. We will also add 2 at-large members. This committee along with Pastor Eddie Lockamy and Pastor Dawson McQuaig will continue to oversee the day-to-day operation of the church. We have a fine staff on hand to get us through the interim while the church begins its search for a new senior pastor.
The deacon body will be meeting soon to discuss the appointment of a Pastor search committee that will begin their work immediately upon selection and approval of the church body, according to the by-laws.
Please continue to pray for your church as we go through this period of change. Also pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to bless our time together and strengthen our commitment to His people in our church and throughout our area.
During times of transition we will all face several forms of emotions, questions, attitudes, and actions. Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us that our best thought plans fall infinitely short of what God desires. Pastor Mark has continually preached the importance and impact of personal involvement in the church. Thanks to his good leadership, and God’s faithfulness, we believe we are prepared for the days ahead. It is imperative that through continual prayer we as a church covenant together to desperately seek God’s direction and will for our church in the coming days, weeks, and months. Although the news may seem difficult, we must rejoice in the new opportunities God has presented the Wilbanks while remembering that BFBC is still God’s church. In fact we are His bride, and He loved US enough to send His Son to the cross, so we KNOW God has a plan.
In Christ’s love,
Jack Cuatt (CLC Chair) & Chad Clement (Deacon Chair)
